In January, international organizations once again convened in Paris at the invitation of the International Transport Forum (ITF) to align on some of the most pressing transport challenges of our time. Representing IRF Global, NEWROAD Consulting’s Founder and CEO Nina Elter joined the discussions, contributing to ongoing efforts to shape the policy dialogue ahead of two key global events: the 2024 ITF Summit on “Greening Transport: Keeping Focus in Times of Crisis” and the 2025 Summit on “Enhancing Transport Resilience to Global Shocks.”
Reflecting on the opportunities and complexities of delivering greener, more resilient transport systems in an increasingly unstable global context, Nina noted “Achieving our ambitious goal of greening transport calls for a collaborative and inclusive approach, particularly in times of (poly)crisis.”
Global dialogue for meaningful action
These meetings offer an annual opportunity for leading international institutions and stakeholders to coordinate research, share priorities, and reinforce partnerships. Discussions this year included input into the ITF Transport Research Programme 2024–2025, a collaborative roadmap that aims to equip decision-makers with data and insights to advance equitable, sustainable, and future-ready mobility.
Gender and transport was another important topic, highlighting the need for infrastructure, policy, and data that better reflect the needs of all users.

Looking ahead to Leipzig and beyond
The outcomes of the Paris discussions will directly shape the agenda of the 2024 ITF Summit in Leipzig this May. This year’s theme, Greening Transport, is especially relevant as countries navigate the balance between climate commitments, economic recovery, and energy transition.
